Coronavirus Update 19/03/2020

Dear Parents

Government announcement

Yesterday evening the Secretary of State for Education gave a public statement that all state-funded schools in England would be closed from the end of the school day on Friday 20th March 2020 until further notice.

Pupils attending school

Schools are expected to stay open for the children of key workers and those in various vulnerable categoriesproviding a safe place and access to meals. Key workers are people who work within the public sector in roles that are vital to the infrastructure of the community. They include, for example: teachers, police officers, armed forces personnel and NHS workers. Please contact the school office as soon as possible if you are a key worker and intend on sending your child to school between 8.30 - 3.05. Please note that breakfast club and after school provision will not be open due to limited staff capacity.

Pupils who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) are also entitled to attend school. If you have not yet spoken to a member of school staff to confirm your child's attendance, and you are intending to send them, please contact the school office as soon as possible.

Please note that if your child is attending school, they will need to access the building through the main office and bring a packed lunch with them, unless they are entitled to free school meals, in which case this will be provided. They should also wear full school uniform and be sent with their water bottle, P.E kit, etc. as usual.

Pupils not attending school

Pupils who will be at home have been issued with a home learning pack and reading books which they should work through steadily throughout the 2 weeks they are off. In addition, teachers have, and will continue to post various links to fun and engaging websites on Class Dojo, so please access this regularly.

It is extremely important that children practise their reading and number bonds/times tables every day. Reading speed will reduce significantly if children do not read regularly and number bonds/times tables knowledge will be lost.

For those pupils not in school but who are entitled to free school meals. You will be able to collect a food parcel for your child from the school office, after llam and before 3pm on from Monday 23 rd and the following Mondays until further notice, if you have confirmed with the school you would like to receive this.

If your situation changes and you would like to access the hamper please email

I will communicate regularly with you following updates provided by the Government and wish you and your families well during this difficult time.

Yours sincerely

Mr George
