Open Futures Cook It
Year 2 pupils at Tilbury Pioneer Academy had a special visitor recently as part of their Cook It programme, who taught them cutting and tearing skills, making a basil and tomato salad. At the end of their session, they enjoyed a delicious strawberry and lime smoothie! |

Year 2
In science we have been finding about the food that we eat. We looked at lots of different fruits and vegetables and found out which parts of different plants are edible. We then used some of these foods to create a delicious beetroot and potato salad.
Trained cooks from the Open Futures programme visited us to help develop our cookery skills. The children learnt about hygiene and how to cut safely using sharp knives. We cut and mixed all of the ingredients and added a lemon and herb dressing.
