Kerbcraft
Keeping safe on the roads Pupils at Tilbury Pioneer Academy have the opportunity to learn road safety during their lessons. Assisted by the road safety team at Thurrock Council, they learnt everything they needed to know about how to keep safe on and around the roads. Kerbcraft is a road safety scheme for 5 to 7 year old children. Children are trained in small groups at the roadside and receive a certificate for taking part. The Kerbcraft project is run in 33 schools in the borough. These schools were selected in response to the high child pedestrian accident rates in these areas. 1,562 pupils took part in the Kerbcraft scheme during the 2011/12 academic year. Kerbcraft aims to:
