Parent Guide - Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 9 February was Safer Internet Day, a day that is very important to our school and pupils. Safer Internet Day is run by the INSAFE network and is celebrated every year across Europe, and in other countries worldwide.

In the UK, Safer Internet Day is organised by the UK Safer Internet Centre (www.saferinternet.org.uk), and this year’s theme is 'Play your part for a better internet'. Childnet International, who form part of the UK Safer Internet Centre, have produced an online safety presentation to help schools, parents and carers to support children and young people online.

To celebrate the many positives of the internet, and to raise awareness of the issues that children and young people face online today, the children at Tilbury Pioneer Academy had an assembly learning about online safety information. To help and support your child at home we have included some useful information sheets for you to read - see top right hand download. Please take the time to talk to your child about the dangers and risks they may face online and how these dangers could be avoided.

We believe that internet safety education is a crucial element of the curriculum and an essential part of young people’s development.
