With the Thurrock Schools Football League coming to a close, the Pioneer Y5/6 boys football team were crowned CHAMPIONS of the Central League Group 2! This is an outstanding achievement for our group of boys and we are so very proud of their effort throughout the campaign. The team managed to score 19 goals in the season and only concede 7 which shows how the team have been set up to play throughout the course of the season. The group showed tonnes of resilience and never backed down from challenging fixtures that really put them to the test. A trophy will be sent to the school to showcase their achievement this year.

Our Wellbeing Ambassador took an active role in engaging with the community by asking key questions during a Q&A session with Balfour Beatty about the new level crossing being constructed in our local area. The session provided an important opportunity to raise concerns, gain clarity on the project’s timeline, safety measures, and impact on the community, and ensure that residents’ voices were heard.
It was inspiring to see our students confidently represent their peers and contribute to a meaningful discussion about local developments.
Instead of the usual “bring a costume from home” approach, the school was transformed into a hub of creativity centred around a specific fairy tale. Throughout the day, children immersed themselves in the story through drama, storytelling and a range of hands-on craft activities.
Rather than arriving in costume, pupils designed and created their own wearable accessories as part of their classroom activities. By the end of the day, every child had crafted something unique to wear that represented the fairy tale theme. This approach allowed children to take full ownership of their creativity and ensured that everyone could take part, regardless of resources at home.
All materials for the children’s “fairy tale transformations” were provided during the school day, and it was fantastic to see the wide range of imaginative creations produced across the school.

Our Arts Council students had an exciting day taking part in backstage tours at the Royal Ballet and Opera. The 30 pupils were split into two groups: one began with a tour of the Production Workshop while the other explored the Design Workshop in the Coachman’s Café. After a short break for refreshments, the groups swapped activities, giving everyone the chance to experience both areas. The visit offered a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at stage production, set and costume design, and the creative processes that bring world-class performances to life. It was an inspiring and memorable experience for all the students.
